Who is at The Ark?
Heather Sinclair - Manager I am a qualified teacher, having completed a four-year B Ed. Degree course. I have taught classes in Reception, and Years 1 and 2 over a period of 9 years, then left teaching to have my family. I have four grown up children, including twins and live in Crowthorne. As a committed Christian I am a member and regular attender of Foundation Church, Wokingham. As well as managing The Ark, I tutor children in Key Stages 1 and 2 (Years 1-6) in Numeracy and Literacy. My hobbies include baking, swimming, running, playing squash, long distance walks and going on bike rides with my husband. Anna Forbes - Deputy Manager I am married with three children, who all attended The Ark. I have been involved with The Ark since 2002 when my eldest child started. I have enjoyed doing various voluntary roles – parent representative, secretary, and chair, and now working here since my youngest child left in 2009. I completed my Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People’s Workforce (Early Learning and Childcare Pathway) in 2012. Before having children I worked as a nurse, having gained a Diploma in Adult Nursing. I have a BSc in Ecology and love being outdoors, and helping the children to learn about nature. I regularly attend and am involved at St John’s Church, in Crowthorne. In my spare time I enjoy walking with my family and dog, reading, gardening and going camping. Sumita Mohanty - Early Years Practitioner I was born in India and came to the UK in 1984. My husband is retired and we have two grown up sons and three grandchildren. I have a BA in English and a Teachers’ Training Certificate from India. I taught for a couple of years in India but took time off when my sons were growing up. I started working at The Ark in 2000. I am a Christian and attend Sandhurst Baptist Church. I am bilingual and read stories to the children in Hindi, as well as write the children’s names and numerals in Hindi. My hobbies include travelling, gardening, cooking, walking and entertaining. Anne Goodrum - Early Years Practitioner After gaining a certificate in Nursery Nursing, I initially worked as a nanny, caring for children of all ages, from newborn to 12 year olds, and twins. The nomadic life of nannying in England and abroad ended when I started work at Squirrels Nursery based at Broadmoor Hospital in 1991. In 1993, I moved to Aberdeen to be deputy manager and then manager at the Shell Oil nursery. I returned to Squirrels in 2000, and worked there until its closure, joining The Ark in 2017. Married with one child, I love to be outdoors discovering new places, to walk locally or heading further afield to camp and hill walk. Poppy Brown - Administrator My husband and I have recently moved to Crowthorne with our two young daughters, one of whom attends The Ark. We are Christians and go to Arborfield Church where I also run a toddler group. Before having my children I was a primary school teacher in Reading which I really enjoyed, but while I'm looking after my children at home and as someone who enjoys admin, this part time administrator role is brilliant! We like baking, walking and cycling in the forests, playing outside and with friends. I also adore the sea and the mountains (particularly when covered in snow!).
