Who is at The Ark?

Heather Sinclair - Manager
I am a qualified teacher, having completed a four-year B Ed. Degree course. I have taught classes in Reception, and Years 1 and 2 over a period of 9 years, then left teaching to have my family. I have four grown up children, including twins and live in Crowthorne. As a committed Christian I am a member and regular attender of Foundation Church, Wokingham.
As well as managing The Ark, I tutor children in Key Stages 1 and 2 (Years 1-6) in Numeracy and Literacy. My hobbies include baking, swimming, running, playing squash, long distance walks and going on bike rides with my husband.

Anna Forbes - Deputy Manager
I am married with three children, who all attended The Ark. I have been involved with The Ark since 2002 when my eldest child started. I have enjoyed doing various voluntary roles – parent representative, secretary, and chair, and now working here since my youngest child left in 2009. I completed my Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People’s Workforce (Early Learning and Childcare Pathway) in 2012.
Before having children I worked as a nurse, having gained a Diploma in Adult Nursing. I have a BSc in Ecology and love being outdoors, and helping the children to learn about nature.
I regularly attend and am involved at St John’s Church, in Crowthorne. In my spare time I enjoy walking with my family and dog, reading, gardening and going camping.

Valerie Yorke - Early Years Practitioner
I have two grown up children and have worked with 2 to 4 year olds for over 20 years and previously worked at the Ark 2006 – 2015. I have since worked full time in a school nursery in Camberley.
I love seeing the children learn new things and I’m invested in improving children’s language and social skills through everything they do with us here at the Ark and making learning fun.
Through my years of experience and training in different settings I have gained a wide range of knowledge on children’s development and one thing I am passionate about is outdoor learning especially with the forest school.
When I’m not working I enjoy going to church, cross stitching, knitting and going for walks with my children.

Laura Rothwell - Early Years Practitioner
My journey at The Ark started in 2021 when my eldest son joined. During that time I volunteered to be on The Ark committee as a parent representative, and l left this role in 2024 when my youngest son left for school. I then started working at The Ark as I wasn't ready for my Ark journey to be over! Before having a career break to have my own children I was a primary school teacher in Epsom, Surrey. I have a BA(Hons) in Theology and Education from University of Cambridge and then completed my PGCE. During my time as a teacher, I taught Reception, Year One and Year Two for 11 years. Reception was my favourite year group as every day was so different and many laughs were had. I loved watching the children grow, develop, learn, make friends and have lots of fun. I particularly enjoy reading stories to the children, bringing their imagination to life.
I love spending time with my family, being in the outdoors and exploring new places.
I look forward to working with you and being a part of your child's preschool journey.

Sze Chow - Early Years Practitioner
I have lived in the UK for two years and I am married with two grown up children. As a Christian, I regularly attend Crowthorne Baptist Church.

In Hong Kong, I earned a BA in Pre-Primary Education and taught children aged 2 to 6 for 20 years. Since 2022, I have been a volunteer at the Ark, walking with the children in Wellington College, appreciating nature and experiencing the seasonal changes together.

During my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, camping and cycling with my family.

Poppy Brown - Administrator
I have one child currently at the Ark, and one who used to attend before joining a local primary school. We love being involved in the Ark. We enjoy walking and cycling in the forest and we go to Christ Church Bracknell.
